More About Us . . .

Meg and Chad prepare to tie the knot on October 3, 2009. This blog chronicles their journey to the altar.

Planning Update . . .

We are more than half-way through the planning of the wedding now. The ceremony and reception will be held at a small country church outside of Bloomington. More details to follow.

Hawaiian Honeymoon

We’ve been back from Hawaii for about a week now, and it’s back to the ol’ daily grind. Hawaii was wonderful and beautiful, and so warm that the sand burnt our feet.

I have hundreds of pictures from the trip, but I will save them for my upcoming posts. I plan to share pictures and stories from the trip over the next week or so.

Stop back by soon!

We are down to four days.

It is marathon week. Yesterday we moved all of the decorations that have been waiting in the spare room out to the church. We went shopping for all of the last minute things like tulle, gifts, and sunglasses for that bright Hawaiian sun.

I’ve been designing the programs the last two days. Another item on the list that I waited until the last minute to do. Oh well, I’m going to get them done tonight.

Tomorrow is my last day at work before the wedding. I won’t be back in the office for a full two weeks. It is going to be awesome.

Family is coming in in the next few days. I can’t wait to see everyone.

This is going to be the last post before the wedding (I’m pretty sure), so I’ll see you on the flip side!

Bridal Showers

In the past few months, I have been lucky enough to have been given four bridal showers. Does that seem like a lot? I have a feeling that more people are doing multiple showers these days, they are just smaller gatherings.

I have lots of pictures from all the showers, but I decided to take some of the best ones and make a collage to share.

Thank you everyone for your gifts and your warm thoughts!

Engagement Photos

Our engagement photos are done!

Wanna see? Just follow this link —->  Megan & Chad’s Engagement Photos.

I put off these pictures until the last minute. I finally called Shelia about a month before the wedding date. (We’ve been engaged for over a year at this point.)

Oh well, it’s wonderful to finally have a lot of photos of us together (78 photos in the gallery!).

Before, I think I only had four really good photos of Chad and me. Including this one. It is my favorite photo from our engagement party last September.

Enjoy!

More Wedding Craft Projects

I’ve been working on more craft projects for the wedding. With only a few weeks left, I’m getting down to the finishing touches.

Can you guess what these will be?

How about now, with a little color?

One they are all painted, these little beauties will serve as our pie stands at the reception. I’ll add some more photos later of the finished product. These four will be yellow (obviously) and there will be three slightly taller stands in brown and green. Even the pie table will be colorful and festive!

Shoe Dilemma

I have been looking for the right shoes for my wedding for ages, and I just can’t seem to pick them out. I’ve thought about going with a punch of color–one of the wedding hues, of course. I’ve also considered going old school with just an ivory shoe to blend in with the dress . . . I’m really not sure what to do!

So really what I’m saying is:   I need help.

I’ve picked out seven pairs of shoes that I really like, but now I need some outside perspective to help me make a choice. Perspective is very important when it comes to wedding shoes.

So, please consider the following shoes carefully and respond with your vote. Which pair do you like best and why? 200 words or less. (Unless you want to write more.)

Wedding Hair

Since July of last year, I’ve been trying to grow out my hair. I began the effort for my brother’s wedding, in which I was supposed to wear my hair in an updo.  I found out about that after I’d had my hair cut about chin-length. Needless to say, it was in an updo–with lots and lots of bobby pins to help.

Now my hair is just past my shoulders, and I think I’m fine lengthwise to do just about any kind of hair style I would want for the wedding. I recently went to my salon

for a trim, and my stylist (who will be doing my hair for the Big Day) asked me what I was planning for hair. I had no idea. So, I started looking online for some inspiration and I think I’ve found the perfect style for me.

Isn’t the back just lovely? It so simple and elegant. I think it will be a perfect foil to the veil I’ve been thinking about getting.

The side-swept bangs are something I really want to have. i think they are a nice frame to my face.

What do you think? Do you have any great hairstyle suggestions?

DIY Wedding Projects

I finally finished a project that I’ve been planning for quite some time:  the flower girl’s basket.

I found a small woven basket at Goodwill several months ago. I paid a whopping 99 cents for that puppy.

I bought half a yard of material to match the material of which the reception table runners were made. Did I mention that I bought handcrafted table runners for my reception on Etsy.com? I did! They are awesome! I love Etsy. If you haven’t been there before, go now.

So, anyway, I bought half a yard of the same material and planned to use it to line the basket for the flower girl. I kept putting off this project until I finally sat down Monday night and sewed the liner. I finished the hemming and sewed on the ribbons Tuesday. Hand-sewed, even.

It turned out pretty well, if I do say so myself.

I also had a chance to work on the card holder I am creating for the reception. It is made out of three hat boxes glued together and spray painted ivory. I used pretty material to cover the sides of the “cake” and ribbon to jazz up each layer. I plan to add more decorations–flowers, etc.–but I think it looks pretty good at this point. It will serve as the centerpiece for the gift table in the tent at the reception. Remember folks, we are having PIE for dessert. Please don’t get in line beside the card holder, or you may miss out!

This is Chad, sharing his latest modeling look–Blue Steel. I know you are all asking yourselves how I possibly landed this catch. He is quite something, let me tell you.

Chad’s Wedding Day Attire

This weekend we finally focus on Chad for a bit.  We haven’t gone tux shopping yet, and we are down to just a couple of months and some change. I checked out the local tux rental sites, and apparently all of them use the same tux supply company–Jim’s Formal Wear–which just happens to have an excellent website. I used the “Build A Tux” feature to put together a sample ensemble for my honey. This is the complete tux package.

I knew I wanted a gray tuxedo basically from the beginning of all the wedding planning. I remember looking at all the different colored tuxes and suits while I was dress shopping, and I really thought the gray suit was the perfect color for an early-in-the-day wedding. I don’t know why. I just think it is.

Right now we are thinking striped brown tie for Chad and solid brown ties for the groomsmen.

Oh, and I love the wing collar (that’s what Jim’s calls it, anyway).  Maybe it looks more old fashioned? I’m not sure, but I love the way it looks. This shirt is in ivory, to match my dress, of course.

He’s going to look too good.

We are getting closer . . .

According to my Facebook countdown, there are 86 days left until the wedding as of today.

At this point I’m basically trying to shuffle through all the details, and organize things bit by bit. All of the large stuff is done at this point:

  • Tent, tables, and chairs rented?  Check!
  • Food catered? Check!
  • Photographer scheduled? Check!
  • Dress purchased? Check!
  • Honeymoon booked? Check!!!

So, now I need to work on invitations, flowers, pies, decorations. Oh so many things . . .

But, in 86 days it will all be happening, and I can hardly wait!
